Conference Venue

The most significant difference from previous conferences is the use of the Grand Wayne Convention Center as the site for the majority of presentations, lectures and activities. The GWCC has public spaces for impromptu conversation, ballroom spaces for exhibitors and meals, and, of course, free wifi throughout. Our primary hotel, the Hilton Fort Wayne connects directly to the Convention Center. There is a restaurant and a full service Starbucks in the hotel.  Kosher food will be available for conference attendees. The Convention Center is located a block from the Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center and within a short walk of dozens of restaurants and local attractions.

Conference Spaces

  • The Grand Wayne Center will house the bulk of our presentations and exhibit spaces.  
  • The Exhibition Hall at the Grand Wayne Center will house the Exhibitors throughout the conference, and the Share Fair on Sunday.   
  • The Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center will serve as the conference Resource Center. Extended hours will be offered for conference attendees.  
  • The Allen County Public Library will host our workshops and Film Festival.
  • Our Hospitality Desk will be available in the lobby of the Grand Wayne Center. Local volunteers and representatives from Visit Fort Wayne will be there to answer your questions and direct you to local resources. 

 

Accessibility

The Grand Wayne Center and the Allen County Public Library are both public buildings that comply with ADA guidelines.   Two options are available for scooter/power wheel chair rental:
  • James Medical - (260) 487-3110.  Heather Rohrbacher, Manager.  Attendees should call about 2 weeks ahead of arrival with all their information, payment and schedule drop off/pick up. Scooters can be delivered to individual hotels or they can all be delivered to a central event location and have their name on it. Scooters rent $100-$150 for the week/weekend. They have several different ones with different weight capacity which is why there is a range for pricing.
  • LJ's Discount Medical Supply - (260) 444-5105.  Contact Jeff or Darcy.  Attendees should call anytime 2-4 weeks ahead of arrival with all their information, payment and schedule drop off/pick up. Scooters can be delivered to individual hotels or they can all be delivered to a central event location and have their name on it. Scooters rent $175-$200 for the week. Power Wheelchairs are also available for $200 for the week. They have several different ones with different weight capacities as well. They do charge a $40 delivery fee – however *If everyone that rents from LJ’s opts for a central delivery location, they will waive the delivery fee.
